Statement on H.4624

This week, South Carolinians received the news that Governor McMasters has signed H.4624 into law, further curtailing life saving measures for our trans teens and children. This bill chokes public funding towards gender affirming care through Medicaid, state insurance and the Public Employee Benefits Authority for any age. 

The loss of access has compounded for South Carolinians seeking gender affirming care since the six week ban. For those of us who know abortion access as a critical form of gender affirming care, this is a continuation of an onslaught against our providers, our communities, our children and our loved ones. 

While the restrictions seek to restrict us we know in turn how we instead bloom. Our comrades at Campaign for Southern Equality have created resources for folks navigating the inroads to access care and travel towards power.
